TiViMate • EPGenius setup

Add your new playlist

This adds a second playlist with the improved EPG. Your existing playlist stays in TiViMate as a backup.

Important: do not delete or edit your existing playlist.

Before you start

First, open the email or WhatsApp message containing the playlist link and copy the whole link. Do this before opening TiViMate — it makes the later steps much easier.
1.
Switch on the Fire Stick and make sure your iPhone is connected to the same Wi‑Fi network.
2.
Make sure the official Amazon Fire TV app is installed on your iPhone. The developer shown in the App Store should be AMZN Mobile LLC.
3.
Keep the message with the playlist link handy in case you need to copy it again.
Keep the actual playlist address private. It is not shown on this webpage. Use the address sent to you directly.
Need to set up the Fire TV phone remote?

If the Fire TV app already controls your Fire Stick, skip this section and go straight to Step 1.

The example phone screenshots were taken on Android, so the iPhone screens may look slightly different. The important buttons and process are the same.

Install the official app

Look for Amazon Fire TV. Avoid similarly named unofficial remote-control apps.

Connect it to the Fire Stick

Open the app. If it asks for Bluetooth or Local Network permission, allow the access it needs to find the Fire Stick. Choose your Fire Stick when it appears.

The television should show a short pairing code. Enter that code into the phone app.

Quick test: press an arrow on the phone. If the selection moves on the TV, the remote app is ready. The small keyboard button is the one we will use to paste the long address.

1

Open Add playlist

In TiViMate go to Settings → Playlists. Scroll past the playlists already installed and choose Add playlist.

Do not select or delete the old playlist. We are adding another one.
2

Choose M3U playlist

Select M3U playlist. This is different from the Xtream Codes option you may have used before.

3

Choose Enter URL

Select the Enter URL box.

For these instructions, do not choose “Paste from clipboard”. We will paste using the Fire TV phone app instead.

4

Paste the playlist link from your phone

Go back to the Fire TV app on your iPhone and press its keyboard button. Tap in the phone's text box, then paste the playlist link you copied before you started.

On an iPhone, tap and hold in the text field if you need the Paste option.

Quick check before continuing: look at the end of the pasted playlist address. It should finish with =t. If you cannot see =t at the end, copy and paste the link again so you know the whole address is there.

After pasting, use the physical Fire Stick remote if that feels easier. Move down until Next is highlighted, then press Select.
5

Check that the playlist processed

You should see “Playlist is processed” and a large channel count. The exact number can change, so do not worry if it is not identical to the picture.

Leave TV playlist selected and choose Next.

Check the EPG URL

TiViMate may fill in the EPG address automatically. In this setup, the address should look the same as the one shown below.

If the EPG URL is already filled in and matches the picture: leave it exactly as it is and choose Done.
If the box is empty: paste the EPG link from the message using the same Fire TV phone-keyboard method as before, then choose Done.
7

Give the guide time to load

You should now return to the TV guide. At first, some or all channels may say No information.

That is normal. Give TiViMate around 10–15 minutes to download and match the programme guide information.

Once it has loaded, you should start seeing the improved listings and groups. For example, the new guide correctly shows Cambridge United under League One.

And yes, Manchester United should still be under the Premier League — even if the first game has not done much for Paul’s optimism.

If the guide still says No information everywhere after 10–15 minutes, stop there and ask for help rather than changing other settings.

Which playlist should you use?

You now have two playlists. Use the new EPGenius version most of the time because it has the improved programme guide.

Your original playlist is still there as a backup. If a channel does not work properly in the EPGenius version, try the same channel in the original playlist.

The exact playlist names on Paul's Fire Stick may differ slightly from this example — the important point is that both the old version and the new EPG version remain available.

A useful tip for sport

Some channels appear several times at different qualities. If there is a 1080p 50 version, that is often a good one to try for sport because the higher frame rate can look smoother.

If one version will not play, simply back out and try another version of the same channel.
